Gouge Chip Carving

A fairly new form of wood carving, this process was developed in Springfield, Missouri in the late 1990s.  I was lucky enough to have been instructed and certified to instruct by the creator, Russ Hewitt.  It is one of the most relaxing forms of artistry I have ever done.  And what a sense of accomplishment I have when I complete a design.

Gouge Chip Carving:  a process of using a combination of two cuts - a vertical cut and a cut to remove a chip.  These cuts are made using just 4 gouge carving tools.

Classes are available by appointment and my prices are very affordable.  I can teach the basics in the first hour.  Then we can continue on with aspects of design.  It really doesn’t take long before you will be creating your own beautiful pieces.
