Exploring Cemeteries

For many years a great number of people have thought of cemeteries as creepy places that you only visit when absolutely necessary, usually to attend a funeral.  Some people think they are fun places to go to for a good haunt on Halloween or for a quiet location for a romantic liaison.  Then there are those of us who think they are absolutely fascinating places to explore.

Attitudes are changing with the growing interest in genealogy.  I have discovered traipsing through cemeteries can be a very time-consuming but rewarding experience, one that I thoroughly enjoy.  I have found that I am not only able to find information for my own research but I am helping others in locating the final resting places of family members.  I photograph the headstone and document it's location and any pertinent information that I find.  I have taken over 4,000 photographs of graves, including entire cemeteries.  My research has taken me in a direction that I never really thought would bring me so much satisfaction.

I am now offering my services to those of you who for one reason or another are unable to do this extensive research.  Without services such as the one I am offering, my husband would have had to have waited even longer to see the grave of his grandparents (shown below).  We know through personal experience the value of this .  This beautiful statue was placed at the head of their grave by the owners of the cemetery in a pre-determined location several years after their burial within the memorial garden area of the cemetery.
